Commercial Farms

Project Details

  • Title : Commercial Agriculture

Ensign Cooperative is dedicated to transforming agriculture by establishing state-of-the-art commercial farming facilities in Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, and Zimbabwe. These farms will utilize advanced agricultural technologies and sustainable farming practices to produce high-quality crops and livestock, addressing food security challenges and promoting economic growth. By focusing on affordability, nutrition, and sustainability, the project will benefit local communities, particularly LDS families, while creating significant employment opportunities and fostering long-term environmental stewardship. Ensign Commercial Farming also aims to provide training for local farmers, enhancing their agricultural skills and promoting self-reliance.

The project will focus on large-scale farms that cultivate a variety of crops, including vegetables, grains, and fruits, while also raising poultry and livestock. Advanced methods such as hydroponics, organic farming, and water-efficient irrigation will be employed to maximize production while minimizing environmental impact. Farmers will also be trained in modern techniques to improve yield and sustainability.

PROJECT COST AND CONSTRUCTION PLAN

The estimated cost of establishing a fully integrated commercial farming facility is $3.5 million per farm. The breakdown includes:

  • Land Acquisition & Development: $800,000
  • Farm Infrastructure (Greenhouses, Irrigation Systems, Livestock Facilities): $1.8 million
  • State-of-the-Art Equipment (Farming Machinery, Livestock Care Tools, Storage Facilities): $600,000
  • Sustainability Features (Solar Energy, Water Harvesting, Organic Fertilization): $300,000

The construction period is projected to last 12 to 18 months, with the first crops and livestock reaching marketable levels within three years.

EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES & IMPACT ON WOMEN & COMMUNITIES
